Training with Hombu-recognised shihan is an important part of your aikido development, recommended for kyu grades and a pre-requisite for yudansha tests.

"In the simplest terms, aikido training is a process through which we learn how to use our bodies skilfully; how to work with timing and distance. Training firmly and precisely, by performing techniques again and again, is the best way to improve."
